Chess Club

The California Chess Academy offers an eight week program for students at Mission Basilica School to learn about the game of chess.  This club includes a CCA Chess Workbook for each student that contains rules, lessons, and tests pertaining to chess.  Students of all ages and levels are welcome to enjoy this experience and partake in fun tournaments to win trophies and prizes!

Chess teaches children to:  think deeply, evaluate positions, gain confidence, compete well, problem solve, visualize results, strategize and plan, and improve concentration.

The MBS Chess Club meets on Tuesdays from 2:35-3:35 in the school’s library (downstairs).  Be sure to enroll early as the class size is limited to 25 students.  The dates they will be meeting are: 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7, 2/14, 2/21, and 2/28.  For this eightweek program, the cost is only $95.00.
