MBS Clergy
Our Parish Clergy work closely with the school to enhance the spiritual journey of our students.
Reverend Monsignor Arthur A. Holquin serves as the 34th pastor in a line of succession that dates back to 1776 to Fray Junipero Serra, OFM, the founder of this historic Mission. Msgr. Holquin has continued the theme of his illustrious predecessors “siempre adelante”, always moving the Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano forward through preservation, education, and most importantly spiritual growth of not only local parishioners, but also the thousands of pilgrims who journey to this National Shrine each year.
Reverend Tim Peters serves as Parochial Vicar to the parish. He is a Diocesan priest responsible for assisting the pastor. In addition, Father Tim celebrates weddings, funerals, and Masses for both the Hispanic and Anglo communities of the parish.
Reverend Michael Pontarelli, OSM, celebrates weddings, funerals, and other Masses whil also attending to the spiritual needs of parishioners and guests. As a member of the Servite Order, through the intercession of St. Peregrine (a saint of the Church and member of the Servite Order), Father Mike ministers to those who have cancer.
