Mission Basilica School’s administration, faculty, and staff embrace the call of the Catholic Bishops of the United States to carry out our educational ministry through the pillars of personal spirituality, social justice, and academic excellence, in alignment with the Curriculum Guide for Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Orange. As a Catholic academic community, we recognize the family as the primary educator of each child and seek to support and extend the important work that begins at home.

We are committed to nurturing the growth, development, and unique gifts of every student, encouraging each child to reach their fullest potential. Our faculty believes that every human person has the right to pursue knowledge in a way that honors their dignity and God-given abilities. We strive to provide an environment where students are supported spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, physically, socially, and globally.

Traditions

At Mission Basilica School, we cherish our strong sense of community, viewing our students, parents, faculty, and staff as an extended family. Like any family, traditions play an essential role in strengthening our bonds. They bring us together and create meaningful opportunities for shared experiences.

As we look ahead, we are especially excited to celebrate our 100th anniversary in 2028! This is a remarkable milestone that reflects the longevity, strength, and faith-filled foundation of our school. For nearly a century, Mission Basilica School has remained steadfast in its commitment to academic excellence, Catholic values, and community. Our history is a testament to generations of families who have entrusted us with the education and formation of their children.

Among the many treasured traditions at MBS, a few stand out as particularly memorable: St. Joseph’s Day, May Crowning, and United Nations Day. These celebrations unite our community and provide special moments of connection, joy, and shared purpose.

Rooted in our rich history, these traditions have been upheld by generations of students and continue to be embraced and celebrated anew each year — a beautiful reflection of a school community that honors its past while confidently looking toward the future.
