Family Spotlight – The Boyers
The Boyers have four children attending Mission Basilica School. The children are made up of Elizabeth in 7th grade, Nathan is in 5th grade, Emma in kindergarten, & Samuel in preschool with the 2 year olds.
Why did you choose MBS?
We picked MBS because St. Catherine’s was closing & MBS came highly recommended by their principal & other families in the Catholic community. When they met Mrs. D’Auria & spoke with Mrs. Beresford over the phone, they knew it was going to be a great fit. MBS felt so inviting to them.
What do you & your children like the most about the school?
MBS feels like a community. The kids love the activities like UN Day & going to Mass together. Mr. & Mrs. Boyer love how welcoming everyone has been & that they feel like a part of the school community. Mrs. Boyer additionally loves how Coach Kiel can adapt a PE Class for 2 year olds!
How did you hear about MBS?
Principal from St. Catherine’s & other families in the Catholic community.
What differences have you seen in your children’s growth since enrolling at MBS?
Amazed at the early childhood classes. They are learning so much! That these classes are so well constructed to help develop their skills. They are growing & thriving like crazy! So impressed with the lower grades & implementing the love of God! Samuel (2.5 years old) is trying to make the sign of the cross already! Emma (in Mrs. Watson’s kinder) loves school & Mrs. Boyer gets a report every day from her and can just hear her enthusiasm about her class! Additionally, the Boyers are so impressed with everything their 5th & 7th graders are learning, as well as how kind & welcoming their teachers have been!
What are 3 words you would use to describe MBS?
What advice do you have for prospective families looking at MBS?
Take an on-campus tour & come with questions. Mrs. Boyer continues that there is something special about being on Holy Ground. She said “You will feel at peace right away at MBS. I cannot explain it, but I felt at ease.” Additionally, she said that “It is a blessing to have all four children on campus together. When Mrs. Boyer picks up Samuel, Elizabeth (the 7th grader) will look down from the balcony and wave at him. It just warms her heart that this can happen between the siblings!
